lego collection
my current lego collection! i collected lego as a child, but my interest faded as a teen and college student. i got back into collecting lego as an adult in 2021 with the release of the botanical sets.
these sets are categorized by theme, but are not listed in any sort of order otherwise. it'd be cool if i could remember exact chronological order, but i can't! click on each box to learn more about the set and read my thoughts on it.
in-progress
The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dur
Set: 10333
Pieces: 5471
Retail Price: $459.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i'm currently building this set at work during my lunch breaks and virtual meetings. i love every lord of the rings set, and this one is going to be the tallest set i've built by far. so far i'm not even finished with the base, but the gradient with different shades of brown to represent the glowing lava shining against the black tower is neat. i know there's fun details later, especially inside the tower, and i'm excited to get to them!
Ford Model T
Set: 11376
Pieces: 1060
Retail Price: $129.99
Source: Purchased Myself
my current build for family game night! i started bringing lego sets because i need something to fidget with. i've never been interested in the lego car sets before, but a historical car? it grabbed my attention right away! it apparently had an illegal building technique in the instructions when lego sent it to influencers to review, so i'm curious to see if they fixed that.
to build
Sunflowers
Set: 40524
Pieces: 191
Retail Price: $14.99
Source: Random Gift
i've had this set in my "to build" pile since 2022 tbh. the small botanical sets with only one kind of flower are the most tedious to build, especially when they have lots of little petals. it gets repetitve to put the same two pieces together something like 32 times. i'll probably build it after i build the other sunflower set i have and add them to that bouquet.
Japanese Maple Tree
Set: 10348
Pieces: 474
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Random Gift
i'm waiting to build this until i can rearrange some things and have a bonsai display area with this, my mini bonsai, and the first bonsai set. i think the gradient with different color leaves is really neat!
Sunflower Bouquet
Set: 11502
Pieces: 686
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Purchased Myself
this will probably be the next set i build at family game night. it's another bouquet set so i'm less motivated to build them than other sets (though i love how they look), but it seems like there's enough variety to keep the building process fresh and not too repetitive.
Peace Lily
Set: 11504
Pieces: 474
Retail Price: $49.99
Source: Easter Gift
my mom picked this up for me with kohl's cash, haha. i don't think it was exactly an easter gift in name since my family doesn't really do that, but she did give it to me easter weekend. it'll be nice to have some lilies on display that are cat-friendly!
Project Hail Mary
Set: 11389
Pieces: 830
Retail Price: $99.99
Source: Purchased Myself
one of my best friends loves the book and was so excited for the movie, and their passion about it is addictive! i haven't seen the movie yet, but i'm already obsessed with rocky. i pre-emptively bought this before it completely sold out; in addition to the popularity of the movie, there's apparently some really cool building techniques to make it rotate like in the movie!
Luke's Red Five X-wing
Set: 75423
Pieces: 584
Retail Price: $89.99
Source: Purchased Myself
not gonna lie, i got this mostly because i wanted to see how the smart brick technology worked. but if i am going to buy star wars sets for myself, it's going to be either the original trilogy or andor/rogue one! i picked this one specifically because of the mini figures it comes with.
K-2SO
Set: 75434
Pieces: 845
Retail Price: $89.99
Source: Purchased Myself
aaand speaking of andor! i wanted to have an andor set, because my partner and i have been watching it and it's my favorite star wars show and movie (outside of the nostalgia of the original trilogy).
Mineral Collection
Set: 21362
Pieces: 880
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Purchased Myself
after multiple birthdays and christmases of having this on my wishlist, i finally just bought it myself. the minerals all look like they're made with really unique pieces, and it's going to make such a nice display! i'm thinking of saving this for next school year, just in case the district moves me to a different site with more display space. i put in a request to not work at an elementary school for my second job site, so fingers crossed!
Restaurants of the World: Mexico
Set: 41907
Pieces: 326
Retail Price: GWP
Source: Gift With Purchase
i am going to have to collect this whole GWP series, i fear. the sushi restaurant was a fun build, and when i saw the next restaurant in the series was mexico, i knew i had to get it!
Fountain Garden
Set: 10359
Pieces: 1302
Retail Price: $99.99
Source: Purchased Myself
the gardens of the world series wasn't one i was paying attention to until this year, and i'm glad i managed to snag this one before it retired so i could have all of them! they're really nice display pieces with tons of cute details, and this one has tons of printed pieces which is nice. i'm not opposed to a sticker sheet honestly, but printed pieces are a nice bonus!
NASA Artemis Space Launch System Rocket
Set: 43221
Pieces: 632
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Purchased Myself
my dad mentioned wanting this set a lot, so i ordered it for him as a father's day gift! and while i was at it, i ordered one for myself too. there's a lot of cool movement with the set, and it's very timely with the recent artemis launch; i also like having more "academic" sets to display at work. it's currently on backorder, so it's not due to arrive for a bit.
fandom sets
The Lord of the Rings: The Shire
Set: 10354
Pieces: 2017
Retail Price: $269.99
Source: Purchased Myself
my first lotr set of the new line! i'm so bummed that the original lotr sets came out when i wasn't collecting lego sets, but i'm glad we're getting at least one new set a year now. i like that they're bigger display pieces rather than play pieces, and it was a fun build between the interior and exterior scenes. i have this on display in my main office at work, and it looks great with the other lotr sets!
The Lord of the Rings: Smeagol & Deagol
Set: 40761
Pieces: 181
Retail Price: GWP
Source: Gift with The Shire Purchase
i'm glad i ordered the shire set in time to get the gift with purchase! i missed the barad-dur one, which is such a bummer. it's really neat to have a smeagol (not gollum) minifigure. it's a nice little set that i'm glad to have, even if it chronologically doesn't go with the shire set.
The Lord of the Rings: Balrog Book Nook
Set: 10367
Pieces: 1201
Retail Price: $129.99
Source: Purchased Myself
not my first book nook, and i actually enjoyed building the sherlock holmes one more, but it was still a nice set! it utilized the same brick gradient glow that the barad-dur set did. i was using it as a book-end at work, but i had to recently rearrange stuff to make room for barad-dur, so now i just have a "lotr villains" shelf. i guess according to the lego set, the balrog has physical wings!
The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell
Set: 10316
Pieces: 6167
Retail Price: $499.99
Source: Purchased Myself
my biggest, most expensive set so far! it can't even fit on the bookshelf in my office; it has to live on my desk! the whole building process was genuinely a delight. the most tedious part was the roof tiling, but it wasn't even that bad. the instructions introduced a neat technique for lining them all up (using a thin brick to align them), and it looks really nice. i also like that it included enough mini figures that i could have an almost book-accurate council of elrond, using some of the background elf minifigures to represent glorfindel and galdor. i love that it has a boromir mini figure too! of course i love the rest of the fellowship too, but i hvae a feeling we're going to get more aragorn, gimli, and legolas figures in the alleged upcoming minas tirith set.
The Lord of the Rings: Sauron's Helmet
Set: 11373
Pieces: 538
Retail Price: $69.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i'm not a marvel fan or enough of a star wars fan to want to buy the helmet sets, so i was excited when i saw a lord of the rings one released! it'd be so cool if we could get a gimli or eomer helmet as a future set. but since i'd never built a helmet display set, this was a pretty unique build for me! it looks great on my shelf with the balrog book nook and my barad-dur wip.
Great Deku Tree 2-in-1
Set: 77092
Pieces: 2500
Retail Price: $299.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i held off on buying this set for so long, but i knew i had to pick it up when i found out it was retiring this year! the legend of zelda (especially the n64 games) were fundamental to me growing up; i remember playing ocarina of time with my dad, and then playing majora's mask with my siblings when i was a little older. i love the breath of the wild games, and the cherry blossom deku tree is beautiful, but i had to go with the OoT tree! i love that it comes with two side builds so i can still have the BotW rep on my Zelda shelf at work.
Ocarina of Time - The Final Battle
Set: 77093
Pieces: 1003
Retail Price: $129.99
Source: Purchased Myself
more OoT nostalgia! there's so many nice little details and references to the game, like recovery hearts and the megaton hammer hiding in the rubble. ganon was a cool figural build, and i love how all of the nintendo sets come with printed pieces! i really don't mind a sticker sheet, but printed pieces mean that you can get that much more detail on tiny pieces. it's a really nice display piece that looks great on my Zelda shelf. i really hope they do more sets, too. a model of majora's mask would slap!
Eevee
Set: 72151
Pieces: 587
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Purchased Myself
pretty awesome that the best set of the new pokemon line was also the cheapest! i wasn't interested in the other sets (pikachu looks off somehow, and the charizard/blastoise/venasaur trio looks rad, but if i'm buying a $600+ set it's gonna be lord of the rings or the titanic), but i'm so happy with eevee. eevee literally looks perfect, has some nice posability, and there were lots of cute details (like the eeveelutions easter egg) throughout the build.
Mini Pokémon Center
Set: 40911
Pieces: 233
Retail Price: 2000 Insider Points
Source: Insider Reward
i set an alarm to make sure i could redeem points for this before they instantly sold out lmao. it was a pretty extensive build for an insider reward, and there's some nice details inside. the sliding doors are super cool, too!
Game Boy
Set: 72046
Pieces: 421
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Purchased Myself
this set is genuinely insane (positve). it's so accurate to the og gameboy, and has so many interactive features--you can swap out the game cartridges and they actually click in, there's dials and switches that move for things like volume and power, and you can push the buttons! the lenticular screens are really neat too. there's also some amazing geometry at work to get the exact shapes down, and it was such a satisfying build. i really wish i could build this set for the first time again!
botanicals
Dragonfly Garden
Set: 5009934
Pieces: 154
Retail Price: 2000 Insider Points
Source: Insider Reward
i'm glad i managed to snag this one! i didn't even realize the butterfly one existed until it was too late. a tiny set so it was a super fast build, but it looks great with my other botanicals, and i always love a good buy.
Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet
Set: 10342
Pieces: 749
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i built this one at the beginning of the school year before i was able to start seeing students (gotta give them a week or two to adjust before pulling them for therapy), and it's on display in my main office right now. the color story is nice, and i really love the eucalyptus in it. there's enough variety that it wasn't super tedious to build, even if it took me a solid couple of hours.
Flower Arrangement
Set: 10345
Pieces: 1161
Retail Price: $109.99
Source: Christmas Gift
i really like the built-in vase with this one. i'm glad i got it as a gift, because it is pretty expensive for what it is, but i do like having it on display! i think it's neat that you can swap out the flowers for flowers in other sets. i've heard that a lot of people think it's ugly because it reminds them of a funeral home decoration, but i think it looks fine?
Petite Sunny Bouquet
Set: 10347
Pieces: 373
Retail Price: $29.99
Source: Birthday Gift
my brother and his wife gave me this one for my birthday, and i built it at family game night despite his cat's best efforts to destroy it. i really like that these smaller sets are introducing more variety to the builds, so it keeps it interesting enough to build. the little blue flowers are my favorite!
Hibiscus
Set: 10372
Pieces: 660
Retail Price: $69.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i never really thought of hibiscus being purple--i always think of them first and foremost as red, since that's the kind we use to make jamaica, and then white or yellow. but then i noticed we had tiny purple hibiscus growing at my elementary school site, and they do look just like the set! all the different stages of flowers (bud, bloom, flowering) makes for a nice display.
Flower Bouquet
Set: 10280
Pieces: 756
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Purchased Myself
my first botanical set, i'm pretty sure! i honestly don't remember much of this build, but it was enough to get me hooked on the rest of the theme.
Bonsai Tree
Set: 10281
Pieces: 878
Retail Price: $49.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i built it with the cherry blossom colorway, with all the little frogs! honestly the best part. it's a cute little bonsai, and it's currently on display in my tea cabinet so my cat can't knock it over. the base has a bunch of loose pieces to act like dirt, so it would be disastrous if it fell.
Bird of Paradise
Set: 10281
Pieces: 1173
Retail Price: $99.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i love how BIG this one is--i wish they made botanical sets as big as this one again. the house i grew up in has bird of paradise plants in the front yard, so it's a nice reminder of home.
Succulents
Set: 10309
Pieces: 771
Retail Price: $49.99
Source: Christmas Gift
all the little types of succulents made for a fresh build with lots of variety! the display itself with all the little squares are neat. i kind of wonder if i can mount it on a wall, instead of displaying it flat?
Orchid
Set: 10311
Pieces: 608
Retail Price: $49.99
Source: Purchased Myself
another old one, so i don't remember much of this build. i do remeber accidentally knocking it down when i went to plug in my iron behind the desk it lives on though. the little pieces that make up the mulch were a pain to pick up, but it otherwise held up well!
Wildflower Bouquet
Set: 10313
Pieces: 939
Retail Price: $59.99
Source: Purchased Myself
yet another old one, but the variety of colors in this one is really nice.
Tiny Plants
Set: 10329
Pieces: 758
Retail Price: $49.99
Source: Christmas Present
i loooove this set! there's a nice variety of plants (including a pitcher plant, which is my favorite one), and i like that it's a bunch of tiny pots so i can fit them here and there in my display rather than having to clear a large space for it.
Poinsettia
Set: 10370
Pieces: 608
Retail Price: $49.99
Source: Purchased Myself
this one lives with my christmas decor, but i used to have it on display all year for a bit because the plant is culturally significant to the indigenous groups my family belongs to! but ultimately i had to make room for other sets, so it'll be nice to see it again come winter.
Dried Flower Centerpiece
Set: 10314
Pieces: 812
Retail Price: $49.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i've heard that this is one of the most hated botanical sets, but honestly i love the colorway? the autumnal colors are nice, and it's cool that you can hang it up on the wall! it's so hated that i've heard people say that the trellis set released this year is the first botanical set that can be hung on the wall, and i honestly don't know why this one is so hated. the wheat stalks are really unique!
Cherry Blossoms
Set: 40725
Pieces: 438
Retail Price: $14.99
Source: Random Gift
i put off building this one for a long time, for some reason--so long that it was still in the old box! as pretty as the stem flowers look when done, they're a tad tedious and repetitive to build. this one went quick though, and i have it displayed in a vase with a thin neck but wide base. this makes the two stems cross, so it looks really nice!
Roses
Set: 40460
Pieces: 120
Retail Price: $14.99
Source: Purchased Myself
nooot my favorite. i actually still need to find a vase for them. it's just two of the same flower, so it was kind of a boring build.
Daffodils
Set: 40646
Pieces: 216
Retail Price: $14.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i don't recall much about this one, but i remember that the shield pieces were used in a really neat way! i like daffodils, and i think they'll look nice displayed with the peace lillies (and the tulip bouquet, whenever i get that one)
Mini Orchid
Set: 10343
Pieces: 274
Retail Price: $29.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i adore this sub-line in the botanicals theme! the seasonal plants with the built-in vases is such a good theme. the gold detailing is really nice, and i love how understated but intentional they are. i like that this one is a different kind of orchid from the other orchid set, too!
Plum Blossom
Set: 10369
Pieces: 327
Retail Price: $29.99
Source: Purchased Myself
this one is so cute! really close to being my favorite of this sub-line. the branches make for some really cool shapes, the blossoms are a unique build, and the gold detailing in the vase is a nice through-line for the rest of the theme.
Chrysanthemum
Set: 10368
Pieces: 278
Retail Price: $29.99
Source: Purchased Myself
my favorite of the seasonal plants! i'm biased and love chrysanthemums, and that was enough to excuse the tedium of building the same petals over and over again. the vase is also my favorite of the four!
Lucky Bamboo
Set: 10344
Pieces: 325
Retail Price: $29.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i have this one on display in my main office as well, and it's a nice little decor piece. it had a printed piece coin to put in the base as well, which was a nice detail! it's also got some printed pieces for the bamboo tops, which adds some realism.
Mixed Flowerpot
Set: 40762
Pieces: 253
Retail Price: GWP
Source: Gift With Purchase
i really like the look of this one! i can't remember anything about the building process at all; it's so old i can't even remember which sets i got it with. but i like that the "vase" is more like a stand; it's a small footprint, but tall enough to still feel substantial.
Happy Plants
Set: 10349
Pieces: 217
Retail Price: $22.99
Source: Birthday Gift
this was a really fast build! i started and finished it during a virtual meeting at work. nothing about the build was particularly unique or remarkable, but it's neat how you can swap the plants around and make them hold hands. i am looking forward to getting the rocking plants set to go with them!
Mini Bonsai Trees
Set: 10373
Pieces: 709
Retail Price: $64.99
Source: Purchased Myself
these are really cute! the tree styles were each unique enough that, while some parts were repetitive, there was enough variety to have it not feel too tedious. i do want to reorganize and have a small bonsai section in my displays; right now these are just in my tiny home office on my stand fan.
Field Flowers
Set: 30701
Pieces: 77
Retail Price: $4.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i have a few of these! i like to use them for fillers for the smaller bouquets, like the daisies set. it makes it look more rustic, and i like the pop of gold it adds.
Daisies
Set: 11508
Pieces: 133
Retail Price: $14.99
Source: Purchased Myself
this was a new set released this year, and i really like these newer, smaller bouquets. they're at a good price point, and not so huge that they feel boring to build. i built this right after coming back from my new year's vegas vacation with my partner, and cleaned out a glass coffee bottle to use as a vase. it looks really rustic and homey with the field flowers added in too.
Flowering Cactus
Set: 11509
Pieces: 482
Retail Price: $34.99
Source: Random Gift
my mom picked this up for me as a random gift at costco since she likes cacti too, and it was put out a couple days before the official release! again, i really like these newer, smaller sets that come with the vase, and it's cool to have another cactus to display next to the succulents.
Magnolia Branches
Set: 11510
Pieces: 435
Retail Price: $49.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i built this one during family gaming night; i like how simple it is, and the cool shapes the branches make. the pink and marbled flower petals are really neat too? it looks different from the type of magnolia i think of right away, but it is a type of magnolia so it's not inaccurate! i would love to see a set of the other kind of magnolia, too.
Floral Picture Frame
Set: 40916
Pieces: 310
Retail Price: GWP
Source: Purchased Myself
i missed the GWP window for this set; there was nothing i wanted from the lego website within the minimum price range that i was allowing myself to buy (i only buy the Expensive sets as a reward for reaching different goals), so i ended up buying it from a reseller. i just really wanted it to have at work; pictures of family and significant others is a pretty standard thing in every therapist office i've seen, so i wanted to have a way to display a picture of me and my partner, too. it's still lego of course, so it goes with the rest of my lego decor, but it feels appropriate!
ships and such
The Endurance
Set: 10335
Pieces: 3011
Retail Price: $269.99
Source: Purchased Myself
ships, especially shipwrecks and other maritime disasters, has been a lifelong hyperfixation of mine. so when i heard they were releasing a set based on the endurance, i knew i had to get it! this was my first big, expensive build, and i remember that it took me 10 days to build it. there's some really nice details inside, and rigging the sails was challenging in a good way--i liked that you had to use some string for some pieces, instead of just sticking them all on pegs. i also really appreciated that the instruction book included a lot of historical information as well!
Shackleton's Lifeboat
Set: 40729
Pieces: 232
Retail Price: GWP
Source: Gift with The Endurance Purchase
this was a nice little set to go with the endurance! i feel like it really completes the endurance set, so i'm glad i managed to get it.
Ship in a Bottle
Set: 92177
Pieces: 962
Retail Price: $69.99
Source: Purchased Myself
this set had a lot of really unique pieces, and i love how it turned out! i built it years ago--it's another one of my older sets--so i don't remember much about the building process, but it's such a neat concept for a set.
Barracuda Seas
Set: 5009044
Pieces: 148
Retail Price: 2000 Insider Points
Source: Insider Reward
just a cute little ship set for the collection!
The Going Merry Pirate Ship
Set: 75639
Pieces: 1376
Retail Price: $139.99
Source: Purchased Myself
this is here in ships and not fandom because i don't follow one piece; i got this entirely because it was a nice-looking ship set. however, the minifigures are really nice, and each of the characters have their own areas with little details that are story-appropriate (based on what i know of OP)! it was a fun ship to put together.
Haunted Mansion
Set: 31167
Pieces: 736
Retail Price: $89.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i bought this set because it has an option for a ship, but i have it as the haunted mansion right now. i'll update whenever i take it apart and build it as a ship, but i'm waiting until i get a display space for all my ships. the mansion itself has a lot of interactive elements though, and it folds up so it has a pretty small footprint for storage.
Motorised Lighthouse
Set: 21335
Pieces: 2065
Retail Price: $299.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i got this to go with all my ships! it was totally spur-of-the-moment too, because i saw it was retiring at the end of the year last year and i didn't want to regret not getting it. it set a high standard for sets with electronic elements, and heavy sets with big bases (which i get into with my lumibricks review). the lighthouse mechanism is SO cool (it uses a custom fresnel lens piece, which i love as a former stage lighting crew member), and the way the wires are thoughtfully hid is amazing. also i kind of want to see if i can build mini figures that look like the characters from the lighthouse, tbh.

Tranquil Garden
Set: 10315
Pieces: 1363
Retail Price: $109.99
Source: Random Gift
i really enjoy these gardens of the world sets! there's really cute printed pieces with fish on them in the river, which is a nice detail. the bridge was a really unique build too; i've never built anything like it.
The Evolution of STEM
Set: 21355
Pieces: 879
Retail Price: $79.99
Source: Purchased Myself
there's so many cool details in this set! there's some references in the base that are covered up by other bricks (like morse code), and it's made up of a bunch of mini builds (like a desk and a car) that reference differnet technological advancements. i really like the historical figure minifigs.
Tribute to Jane Austen's Books
Set: 40766
Pieces: 361
Retail Price: GWP
Source: Purchased Myself
i missed getting this as a GWP, so i bought it from a reseller. i would love if they did more of these for different authors or scientists--i know they had a jane goodall one too, but i haven't gotten it yet. i love sets based on real historical subjects.
Disney Pixar Luxo Jr.
Set: 21357
Pieces: 613
Retail Price: $69.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i got this to display in my elementary school office, and i wanted to build it because of all the easter eggs inside the build. there are references to a lot of different pixar films, and it's easy enough to take a piece or two off to look at them. my students like to try to guess what each mini build is a reference to!
Classic Animation Scenes
Set: 40774
Pieces: 270
Retail Price: GWP
Source: Point Trade In
i used in-store points at bricks and minifigs to get this for myself, since i had leftover store credit after buying christmas gifts. it is a nice display piece, and i like that the scenes can stand on their own too.
Restaurants of the World: Japan
Set: 40906
Pieces: 289
Retail Price: GWP
Source: Gift With Purchase
this was a nice little build! it felt pretty sizable for a GWP, and i plan on getting the rest of the line. i'm really curious to see what the other restaurants will end up being! there's japan and mexico for the GWP ones, and a larger french restaurant. i'm predicting that one will be an italian/pizza restaurant, but i would love to see something like a donner, samosa, or sambusa shop
Autumn Cottage Garden
Set: 11372
Pieces: 1102
Retail Price: $119.99
Source: Purchased Myself
this is the set that made me want to start collecting the gardens of the world line! i initially got it just as a stand-alone because i love autumnal colors, but it was such a fun build (i love building up the ground with all its layers!) and lots of nice little details, and all the different plants were really nice to put together. this one had so many animals included too, which i always like.
Tuxedo Cat
Set: 21349
Pieces: 1710
Retail Price: $99.99
Source: Purchased Myself
i think this might have been my first big figural build? i may see if i can go back and swap out the white pieces for black ones so i can make it look like one of my cats. this set was really satisfying to put together!
Retro Radio
Set: 10334
Pieces: 906

i got this specifically for an upcoming larp character; it's a modern magical setting and my character uses illusion/imagination magic, so i figured a lego radio would be a nice decorative element for the coffee stand i'm planning to set up in-game. it has a sound brick, but you can also open up the back and put your phone in, so you can play whatever music you want with it. i currently have it stored at work though, and it looks really nice next to the botanical sets i'm displaying with it.

the little birds were really cute! very satisfying to hold honestly. i like that they can look like a heart, too. there were some repetitive building elements for the foliage, but it wasn't too bad, especially with something on tv to watch.
